About This Session
Deme (which rhymes with "team") is a web content management system/framework designed for heavily social applications that involve group deliberation/collaboration. It's also been designed to embody Control by Users, a paradigm that combines ideas such as FOSS, participatory design, data portability, a "bill of rights" for users, and "Do not track". We will give an overview of the high level design goals and show how Deme embodies them, with attention to implementation/performance issues and coding choices for such a general purpose framework.
