  • Do you C what I C?: The resurgence of native application development with C/C++

    9:15 AM Sunday    Room: 4218
Rumors of the death of C/C++ language are greatly exaggerated. Once the primary language of IT systems development, over the last 10 years, C/C++ had received far less attention than Java and C#. However, C++ is making the news again with the recent ratification of a new standard, C++11. Additionally, C++ is being used regularly on mobile platforms like iOS and Android. C++ has even become a first class citizen again on Windows with its prominent support for the WinRT platform in Windows 8. This session will cover the “brief” history of C/C++ and its renewed importance in modern application development with a survey of current popular frameworks, new C++11 language features, and vendor language extensions.
