There are many philosophies on how to structure SQL source control in an organization in a way that is a) flexible, b) provides the kind of "safety" we expect from source control products for non-SQL developers and c) ties into the overall build process as transparently as possible. This talk will demo different strategies and discuss some of the real problems people experience when trying to make SQL source control (and build management in general) work for them. We’ll take a look at some options that exist if you have just SSMS available, or Visual Studio 2010 + TFS, plus we’ll look at other third party products that are designed to help streamline the overall development process, while still giving SQL developers their familiar experiences and meeting their daily needs when interacting with databases.
