• Using & Writing Behaviors in SIlverlight & WPF with Blend & Visual Studio

    9:45 AM Saturday Room: 1401

Behaviors are an exciting new design pattern formalized with the release of Expression Blend 3. Behaviors allow a designer to add functionality such as a physics engine, drag and drop functionality, and custom animation effects to a user interface simply by dragging and dropping the behavior to the Blend design surface.

That’s just the beginning of the power provided by this pattern. Behaviors can also add functionality to Silverlight previously only available in WPF, such as the ability to mimic XAML event triggers and command binding.

Microsoft is treating behaviors as a first class citizen by showcasing community created behaviors in the Expression Community Gallery:

http://tinyurl.com/expblend

In this session we’ll explore how behaviors work, how to use behaviors included with Expression Blend 3 or from the community gallery in both Visual Studio and Blend. Finally, we’ll end the session by creating a behavior of our own.
